Just in case you find yourself not in a place like this picture might suggest, there is an alternative in the southern Finger Lakes region of New York State! The Cantata Singers are always looking for new voices to join us as we sing our way through music history!
We begin today with a “meet and greet” time including some light snacks followed by a long warm up and short rehearsal. The following week will find us getting down to the real work as we prepare William Byrd’s ‘O lux beata Trinitas’, Praetorius’ double choir setting of ‘In dulci jubio’, Benjamin Britten’s gorgeous and touching ‘A Hymn to the Virgin’, John Rutter’s ‘The Wild Wood Carol’ and Dan Forrest’s ‘Arise, Shine!’. In subsequent weeks we’ll begin work on the cornerstone piece of the upcoming concert which is ‘Luminosity’ by contemporary British composer James Whitbourn.
The group is friendly and warm, the music is sublime and, although we work very hard in rehearsal, we have a tremendous amount of fun! Hope to see you there! - will
